The Wilson Society

The Wilson Society of St. George’s Independent School will honor and advance the entrepreneurial legacy of Kemmons Wilson through the incubation, organization, and implementation of innovative student-inspired service solutions for the comprehensive community of Shelby County. This society will be a select cadre of service minded students organized as a council and will gather, organize, and fund entrepreneurial service ideas created by the students of St. George’s Independent School.

The Wilson Society of St. George’s will work to provide training and collaboration opportunities for students with a passion for service, philanthropy, and to pass along “key ingredients” for the entrepreneurial success of service minded students. While launching innovative service experiences created by students, the Wilson Society will seek to train and teach its student grantees the importance of creating sustainable programs that can be evaluated, improved, and passed to new leaders through defined vision and succession plans. Consistent with the vision of Kemmons Wilson the Wilson Society of St. George’s will seek to instill the following key ingredients for success:

1.       The development of innovative entrepreneurial vision, the creation of strategic vision, and being able to document formal operating plans

2.      The ability to evaluate, report, fine tune and report on strategic plans

3.      The ability to prepare for long term success with succession planning, training, and sustainability teachings so as to create long term value for the community through program continuity

“Opportunity knocks often. It knocks as often as you have an ear trained to hear it, an eye trained to see it,
a hand trained to grasp it, and a head trained to use it.”
