Emergency Closing of School
From the current Family Handbook:
School Delays/Emergency Closings/Cancellations: In case of snow, inclement weather, dangerous driving conditions, or other emergencies, the school will announce whether it will close or have a delayed opening over the following television stations: WHBQ Channel 13, WPTY Channel 24, and WMC-TV Channel 5, and WREG Channel 3. If at all possible, this information will be released by 10:00 p.m. of the night prior to the day in question. Sometimes this is not possible due to overnight or early morning precipitation, and under these circumstances, the announcement will be given to the media by 6:00 a.m. that morning. This information will also be placed on the school’s website and outgoing phone message, and when at all possible, an email and/or text will be sent to the parent/guardian email address(es) and cell phone numbers designated for school communication. Due to a wide variety of transportation modes and weather-related circumstances, the school yields to the discretion and responsibility of all families to determine whether their student should attend school during inclement weather or during other unusual occurrences deemed precarious by the family. In the event that school must close before the end of the regular school day due to hazardous conditions, information will be made available by email and the television stations listed above. The school will make
attempts to contact families by phone but cannot guarantee this. In the event of an early school closure,
for those depending on school transportation, the shuttle will transport students along the regular route and
families will be notified by telephone or email about the route timing. Your cooperation on such occasions is necessary for the safety of our students. Please help us keep phone lines open by not calling the school.
