Welcome Bruce Timmons!
St. George’s welcomes Bruce Timmons as math and economics teacher in the upper school. Mr. Timmons joins us from a public high school in middle Tennessee, where he taught for six years.
He received a bachelor of science degree in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and brings more than 25 years of real world experience in manufacturing engineering and management to his classroom.
Having recently relocated with his wife to Memphis, Mr. Timmons fell instantly in love with St. George’s. “The school’s vision as well as the passion that is apparent in the administration, faculty, staff, and student body is very exciting. I’m so grateful to be a part of the team,” said Mr. Timmons.
Mr. Timmons is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking. Seven years ago, he hiked the Appalachian Trail, a journey that took 5 ½ months and nearly 2,200 miles to complete!
“I push my students to describe what we are doing or working on using common, everyday language, as well as knowing the precise mathematical language, because it helps them understand and connect to the material,” said Mr. Timmons. “My goal is to make learning math fun so they will overcome any fears of math they may have and ultimately succeed.”
