The way we weave it all together is what sets your child apart.

We offer a time-tested, traditional curriculum, alongside the brightest advances in active learning—so your child investigates Roman culture by reading mythology and learning Latin, and also by building an intricate computer model of ancient Herculaneum. A St. George’s education encompasses both the study of classic concepts and an apprenticeship in intrepid thinking.
A St. George’s teacher demonstrates mastery of her craft each day. We invest time in our students by teaching, tutoring, counseling, advising, staying late for games, arriving early for rehearsals, meeting with parents, bonding with families, and registering as powerful influences in the community.
At St. George’s, we believe that every person is a child of God, that loving thy neighbor means loving all neighbors, that compassion is your child’s divine instinct, and developing it our sacred mission. We welcome families of all faith traditions into an atmosphere of genuine respect, mutual understanding, and real friendship.
SGIS students come from all corners of greater Memphis, from many backgrounds and every walk of life. And yet our students discover that they are more alike than different. Here, we foster friendships, challenge stereotypes, and instill a will to know and be known that enriches your child’s life.
A St. George’s student learns to practice self-discipline—to weigh his words and predict the consequences of his actions. At the same time, we urge our students to step past their comfort zones, to try out for the new team or take the tougher class. The result strikes a balance between good sense and ambitious goals.
Here, your child can play volleyball for a coach who emphasizes sportsmanship as well as final scores. Or sculpt a bust alongside an artist-in-residence. She can camp in a cave, hike a snowy mountain footpath, and paint a watercolor of Reelfoot Lake with a brush dipped in its waves. She can achieve athletic feats, take artistic flights, and develop a spirit of adventure—all through St. George’s.
