Every trip to the state tournament is special, even when you’ve been there 14 times like St. George’s.
“Getting into the season, you’re not sure what things are going to look like,” veteran coach Tony Whicker said. “Then as you get midway through the season, you’re like, ‘Hey, maybe we can make a run. We can do this.’ Part of me felt like we had a good opportunity, but you’re always kind of like (exhales) when you make it.
“It never gets old. Watching the kids win the game that gets you to the final four, that’s all you need.”
