After an exhaustive process in which 23 search firms were assessed, St. George's retained Resource Group 175 in mid-October to lead the head of school search. Tom Olverson and Tony Featherston, two nationally-respected former heads of school, have begun an in-depth analysis of the St. George's community and will be on campus November 12-14 for in-person discussions with stakeholder groups.

The St. George’s Independent School (SGIS) Head of School Search Committee will conduct a comprehensive search for its next Head of School and present to the Board of Trustees the names of acceptable candidates for Board consideration.
The SGIS Board of Trustees is committed to shared governance principles as well as to the best possible search and appointment process. Due to confidentiality expectations of potential candidates, reconciling these two aims requires careful consideration. The Head of School Search Committee and the Board of Trustees may seek guidance from the Executive Committee throughout the search process to ensure as much transparency and participation as possible with all constituencies while also protecting the integrity and confidentiality of the search process.
A dedicated home on the SGIS portal web site and other communications will keep the community informed of progress in the search while balancing the necessary confidentiality of the process.
The chair of the Board of Trustees shall appoint a trustee to chair the Search Committee. The committee shall be composed of one person representing the board alumni, and six trustees (including the chair of the Search Committee), for a total of seven members.
All Search Committee members are expected to attend every meeting, so members must be willing and able to make Search Committee meetings their highest scheduling priority throughout the search process. All members are expected to participate fully in the work of the committee and use their personal best judgment to achieve the best interests of the school.
The Search Committee meeting schedule is determined by the committee. Meetings are open only to members of the committee and individuals that the search committee chair may invite to join them.The Board chair and Search Committee chair will appoint a search committee coordinator, a general legal counsel, and an independent adviser to assist the search committee in conducting the search.
The committee is accountable to the Board of Trustees. The chair of the Search Committee or designated spokesperson will provide confidential updates to the Board of Trustees as agreed to by the chair of the search committee and the chair of the Board.
