Capital gifts support the construction of new facilities, the maintenance and renovation of existing facilities, the purchase and maintainance of equipment, and new resources for programs and people. An annual St. George's Fund, four Capital campaigns over the past fifty years, and a new planned giving society has helped propel St. George’s forward and has kept the school on the cutting edge of innovation. St. George’s Independent School recently concluded “The Time Is Now” capital campaign.

The Clanlo Society recognizes those individuals who have included St. George’s Independent School in their estate plans. These gifts represent an outstanding commitment to the school, and help ensure that St. George’s maintains an excellent student body, talented faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities into the future. The inaugural gift to the society came from Lois Claire Schwamm. Ms. Schwamm, a retired teacher, had no formal connection to St. George’s, but was inspired by the St. George’s educational model. The planned giving society is called the Clanlo Society, in honor of a family-related nickname.Planned gifts enable our school to plan and provide for a sustainable future. The Advancement staff is here to help you and your lawyer, accountant, or financial team make long term estate arrangements.
Our endowment, currently valued in excess of $3 million, provides for St. George’s Independent School’s financial future. The first gift to the endowment was given by Barclay McFadden in 1984. Countless philanthropic leaders like Bill Dunavant III, Anonymous Donors and others have made generous gifts and added to the school’s endowment since then. Most recently, Beth and David Skudder have provided the school’s new campaign’s leadership gift.
The St. George’s Independent School endowment portfolio is professionally managed by a local Memphis company, Diversified Trust, under the direction of proven financial and investment professionals; who also serve as volunteers and members of our Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees. Interest and income generated by the endowment support key mission based programs like professional development, campus preservation, innovative academic programs, scholarships and financial aid, bring inspiring speakers to campus, and more. Committed friends of St. George’s can make a gift to the school’s endowment at any time. Such gifts can be added to the unrestricted endowment or donors can set up special accounts to fund his or her passions and interests within the endowment. Donors may work with the school to create endowed funds to create new programs or to sustain proven programs. Endowment performance is reported to donors quarterly, annually and over time. Join other endowment donors and see how a generous gift’s impact can grow overtime.
Proceeds from resources donors leave to the school in his or her estates as members of the school’s Clanlo Society will be deposited into the Schools’ general endowment or named endowed accounts.
