The role of the St. George's Board of Trustees is to lead the school strategically to ensure the viability of its mission and the school’s overall sustainability. Our three campuses, located in Germantown, Memphis and Collierville, are governed in accordance with its Charter of Incorporation and governed by a single board of trustees.
Mr. J. Ross Peters is the Head of School at St. George's Independent School, having moved to Memphis in 2015 from Atlanta, where he served as Head of Upper School at The Westminster Schools. Previously at Hawken School in Cleveland, Ohio and Asheville School in Asheville, North Carolina, he began his career as an English teacher and a tennis and lacrosse coach at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ever the educator, Mr. Peters' most cherished professional accomplishment is being named one of only 26 Georgia STAR teachers this spring, having been nominated by a former student. The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia's highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. The STAR award is the highest honor a teacher can receive in the state of Georgia. Mr. Peters and his wife, Katie, live in Collierville and have one daughter, Eleanor '22.
