St Catherines, Ontario, Canada. I have lived abroad for 36 years.
I'm a Financial Advisor.
Ms. Bernadine Dusseau, my fifth grade teacher, had the greatest impact because she encouraged me to do my best academically, to contribute fully to any endeavour, and she valued true friendship. She was also so much fun!
I moved to Canada with my mother during high school. While it was a challenging adjustment at first, I made many new friends and became very involved in school activities and leadership opportunities. I enjoyed my new school so much that I chose to attend University here, and stayed to establish my career, have a family, and make Canada my permanent home. I love living here! Canada offers excellent and affordable education, health care, has a low crime rate, and many opportunities to make a great life!
My city is nicknamed “The Garden City” because we have so many parks, gardens, and trails. It is located on Lake Ontario, 30 minutes from Niagara Falls (and the American border) and one hour from Canada’s largest city, Toronto. Situated between two of the Great Lakes, and sheltered by the Niagara Escarpment, the climate is surprisingly mild and frost-free in the winter (we get a third of the amount of snow that falls in nearby Buffalo, New York). Summers are hot and humid. These conditions allow for ideal vineyards, there are over 100 wineries in the Niagara Region.
Yes! Niagara-On-The-Lake for theatre, Toronto for shopping, cuisine, and culture, and the Muskoka region for lakefront cottages; all in Ontario. If you like to ski and see the Northern Lights, go to Banff and don’t miss nearby Drumheller for a world class dinosaur museum.
The friends you make at St. George’s will be friends for life. The teachers you have at St. George’s really care about you and bringing out your best talents. St. George’s gave me a solid and nurturing foundation that became pivotal to facing life’s challenges and recognizing opportunities.
