University of Oklahoma for undergrad, Oklahoma State University of graduate school
I currently live in Stillwater, Oklahoma as I attend Oklahoma State University earning my Ph.D. in school psychology.
When I was at St. George’s, I pictured myself following a more arts-focused career path. Once I arrived at college, I realized that was not the path that would work best for me. After some exploring, I was able to find the field of psychology, and that eventually led me to the field of school psychology.
St. George’s prepared me for everything that comes after high school by giving me the skills to not only manage academics, no matter the difficulty, but also how to connect with people. That was definitely a huge asset to have going to a huge state school where I knew just about no one when I first arrived on campus.
Mrs. Kalyn Underwood had the greatest impact in my high school career. I took a class from her freshman year and then also junior and senior year. No matter what the subject was, she was always willing to put in the extra time and effort to help me understand the topic we were covering in class. She even took the time and effort to help me understand another class I was taking that she was not even teaching. She is a very dedicated teacher and I was very lucky to have her as a teacher the majority of my high school career.

Take advantage of all of the opportunities St. George’s has to offer you. From the faculty, to the administrators, to all of the extracurriculars offered, to just even the classes you will take, everything will positively impact you in one way or another. While it may not seem like it at this particular point in time, you will definitely look back and be grateful for everything that was offered to you. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to those from your high school experience. The teachers are always willing to help, no matter if you are a current or former student.
St. George’s is a school that helps children expand their horizons in more ways than just the academic sense. St. George’s helps students grow to become the person that not only you want them to become, but the person they want to become as well.
