What year did you graduate from St. George’s?
2007
Where did you attend college?
Rollins College and the University of Memphis
Where do you live and what is your profession?
I just moved back to Memphis from Charlottesville, VA. I manage social media and video content for S&P Global Market Intelligence.
How did St. George’s prepare you for college, career, and life?
St. George's allowed me to try anything and everything I found interesting. From sports to theater to elective-type courses. I really think that helped pave a path for where I would end up in life. I've always loved storytelling, writing and theater, and St. George's introduced me to all those things, allowing me to turn them into a career of making videos and telling stories on social media.
In what activities/sports/clubs, etc., were you involved while at St. George’s?
I played soccer, basketball and tennis. I was involved in theater, too.
Which teacher had the greatest impact on you and why?
Yolanda Toney! I struggled with talking A LOT in class and would often become a bit of a distraction. My freshman year we were reading A Raisin in the Sun and, instead of kicking me out of class for talking, Mrs. Toney asked me to come in front of the class and read a part of the play aloud. It was in that moment that I learned how much I love acting. I got to read in front of the class everyday for a week and that's all it took to march myself down to the theater room and ask if I could audition for the next production and the rest is history.
What is your favorite St. George’s memory?
I remember that I never dreaded waking up and going to school, and I think that speaks volumes for a high school kid. I genuinely loved going to St. George's everyday. My friends were there and family was there, so I had everything I needed and I truly felt at home.
What advice would you give to St. George’s students or young alumni today?
Try everything! St. George's offers so many sports, clubs, etc. so my advice is to take advantage of any and all of them. You never know what could spark something inside of you that will lay the foundation for the rest of your career.
