Where did you go to college?
Davidson College, B.A. French; Middlebury College, M.A. French
Where do you live and what is your profession?
Collierville, TN, Owner of The Stratton House B&B. My husband and I recently renovated his historic family home just off the square in Collierville and transformed it into a bed and breakfast, and event space for weddings and other functions.
Did you ever envision owning a bed and breakfast when you were at St. George’s?
Never!
Which teacher had the greatest impact on you and why?
I remember all of my teachers very fondly – Mrs. Field, Mrs. Blen, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs. Finney. I was so excited to find out that Mrs. Field and Mrs. Finney are still there and might teach my children!
What is your favorite St. George’s memory?
The Book Character Parade is something I remember vividly– it was always fun deciding which character to dress up as and seeing what other people were dressed as. I know that one year I dressed up as Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. I remember someone else dressed as a character from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and he or she carried an umbrella with meatballs hanging from it – I thought that was such a great costume! I also remember the Book Fair. I still have some of the books I bought there, so it’s safe to say that a love of reading was instilled in me from the very beginning of my time at St. George’s.
What would you say to a prospective family looking at St. George’s?
My two children now attend St. George’s (PK and JK) and the atmosphere at the school is so friendly and loving, just as I remember it from so many years ago. St. George’s was a very small school when I was a student, and though it has grown quite a bit, that small school atmosphere is still very much present. My two children both started at the Little Georgies. I remember visiting St. George’s when I was pregnant with my daughter, and something about the school just felt right.
