World History II & The World is Flat

This research projects begins like any other project-take a moment and ask yourself "What do I know about my topic?"  "What do I need to find out?"   Spending a few moments taking of note of you already know and what you need to still find out will save time in the long run.

If you haven't read some basic facts on your subject matter, then please take a moment and read at least one reputable general encyclopedia article (NOT Wikipedia!) from an evaluated encyclopedia, like Britannica Online or World Book Online.  Without knowledge of these basic keywords, it will be near impossible to find useful electronic resources from online databases.  This is simply because the words and phrases used by database providers to index information may not be the same word (or words) as your topic.  Therefore, the more ways you have of describing your topic, the better your chances are of uncovering useful database information.

Because this project is comprised of very broad topics, be sure to be creative thinkers in coming up with words that describe all aspects of your topic:

Globalization

 Globalization-Religious aspects Globalization-economic aspects
World Summit on the Information SocietyIntellect

  Online Databases

EBSCO Host  Be sure to search Academic Search Elite and Point of View using the keywords with which you have come up.

Tennessee Electronic Library   Try using the "Power Search" box and limiting your results to full-text.

JSTOR   This database indexes full-text, academic journal articles.  These articles are published in peer-reviewed, refereed, scholarly works.  They can be fairly dense and hard to trudge through; however, the richness of information makes the effort worth it!

ProQuest  Be sure to search both eLibrary Science and History Study Center.

ERIC   ERIC provides free access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials and, if available, includes links to full text.   Be sure to click "Advanced Search" and limit the results to full-text articles.  This database is particularly helpful with the creativity project.
